How to connect your Microsoft business email as a custom email address?

If you want to connect your Microsoft office organization email for your SMTP settings please do follow the below-mentioned steps:

  1. Open the Microsoft 365 admin center and go to Users > Active users.

  2. Select the user, and in the flyout that appears, click Mail.

  3. In the Email apps section, click Manage email apps.

  4. Verify the Authenticated SMTP setting and make sure it is checked. If not, enable it. (unchecked = disabled, checked = enabled).

When you're finished, click Save changes.


Now retry to setup SMTP. If that doesn't work; Microsoft may take some time to propagate those changes, so please try again after some time.

In case the configured settings do not work please check whether the "enable security defaults" option is set to yes or no. For this, you can follow the below-mentioned steps:

  1. Sign in to the Azure portal as a security administrator, Conditional Access administrator, or global administrator.

  2. Browse to Azure Active Directory > Properties.

  3. Select Manage security defaults.

  4. Check whether the "enable security defaults" option is set to yes or no. If the option is by default set to "yes" kindly set it to "No".

Please note that Clientjoy is not a Microsoft App so it will be recognized as a "less secure app". That doesn't mean that Clientjoy isn't secure, it is just what Microsoft calls third-party apps.
